Your Photo of the Week

Try the Obsidentify app, very helpful when you aren't sure. I use it for insects etc, and to confirm moth iD

Week 16. I certainly wouldn't have expected this fearsome looking chap to be in my moth trap last night, but there he was! It's a Common Cockchafer (stop sniggering at the back), one of the Scarab Beetles. Big beggar.

Week 17. A fabulous little Zebra Jumping Spider enjoying her breakfast on my French door. I love these little guys.

This little guy was lounging on my grill on the back porch. Sorry, cropped in quite a bit, but you can still click to zoom in a wee bit.

I posted this in another thread, but since I'm very happy with this one, and it was taken this week, I'm posting it again! :)

I’m uncertain about when the week starts and ends. My life a continuous rotating door.

Nice Kev but how big is this one because I was shocked when you said one of your other shots was a 90mm moth o_O I have never seen any moth that size?
Thanks. About 40mm long, so a mid sized chap. These are really beautiful little moths.

Week 20. Pine Hawk Moth, my new favourite Hawk Moth, thanks to the beautiful markings and little flashes of blue on the tail section. For the benefit of Spud, they have a wingspan of 2.5 inches. As the name suggests, they like Pine Trees, which is weird because there are none within a mile of my house, which shows how far they travel. This one was pristine and I suspect came from my Ash Tree, it flew straight back there on release.
