Name
Nigel Rand
Hi
My name is Nigel, born and live in the UK, and have five children and one Stepdaughter.
Been a Nikon user for over 42 years since I was 20 years old. F5, D1, D2X, D810, Z6.
Bought my first Sony last week Sony A7RIV, with Sigma 85mm f2.8 for portraits and Sony FE 12-24mm f2.8 G Master Lens, this week for landscape, architecture.
Taken a few images over the weekend, with the Sigma 85mm, amazing quality, very happy to be using Sony, so far.
new learning curve of the Sony technology and menus after using Nikon for so long.

Welcome Nigel and thanks for joining up here and saying hello to us. I don't know how you manage with 5 children + a step daughter, I struggle with just the one! Glad to hear that you are enjoying your Sony gear, it can't have been an easy switch after 42 years! If you have any questions about the site or your new gear please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks, Timothy for your reply.
I’m a YouTube follower of Mark Smith, Osprey, wildlife photographer in USA.
He’s newly converted Sony user from many years with Nikon.
With the Sony A7RIV, he users Sony 128gb SDXC Flash Memory Card, 300mbs R 299mbs W - V90.
Like to ask one question, is there any other brand besides this which are safe in the A7RIV,
and the same, speed for stills and video you can buy. It’s not the money more for long term use and speed and investment to use with the camera.
Is it best to stick to Sony brand for safety and speed of transfer in the camera and transferring to 10TB harddrives RAID backup.

I'd take a look at the SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-II cards or the Lexar Professional 2000X UHS-II as well, both are pretty reliable cards. I have quite a few SD Cards and will hopefully have time to speed test them all in my a7R IV before this month is out. The Sony SF-G Tough UHS-II (300/299) cards are very good, although when I tested them in my a7III they were a little slower than the SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-II cards, but physically they are a lot more durable due to their tough design.

Thanks a bunch, Tim,
I have to go now as over excited since my Sony FE 12-24mm f2.8 G Master Lens. just arrived.
Have to keep it from the Wife, or she will have have another baby number 7, when she finds out how much it cost, lol.
PS< Going to compare to my Nikon 14mm - 24mm 2.8. Sony less weight in the bag and 12mm extra wide,
With 61mp A7RIV hopefully should be mind blowing.
On my industrial printer which is 1440dpi, 8 colours, 2500mm X 1500mm print area. (2.5m X 1.5M)
