While most local crab fishers rely on traditional basket traps, this setup uses a unique snare-line technique brought over from abroad. I caught moment the crab—and its web of snare lines—is hauled from the water. A fascinating look at how fishing methods evolve in different places. The trap is tiny compared to basket traps, and the fisher casts it like a fishing lure with a fishing rod.

I looked it up, and its forbidden to use snare traps in our local waters. That would explain why I've never seen one of these rigs before.

I've been having a ball with the 300 mm f/2.8 GM, but there's nothing wrong with the 70-200 GM II.
