Hello folks,

I use Classic LR that was purchased long back. The Classic LR does not support Sony ARW raw format. As a workaround, I use Adobe DNG Converter to convert the ARW files to DNG and process them on Classic LR.

Question: Will there be any compromise in the quality/missing out details converting Sony Raw - ARW files to DNG, then edit on Classic LR?

Another option I found was to convert ARW files to TIF and edit on Classic LR, the only concern with that is, TIF format is double the size of the actual ARW files.

Please share your thoughts on this.

Thanks in advance!

Supposedly a DNG file is a lot smaller file with no loss of quality from the RAW. There should also be no loss going to a TIFF.

Other options include getting a newer program. RAW Therapee and Darktable are both totally free, powerful, and well supported. Affinity is about $50 US, etc.
