  1. Yes
I got this lone one at Monato Zoo which is an open plains Zoo and you can walk sections and then get on a bus and get driven from one spot to another.
The Elephant is only one but last week they introduced another 2 from another Zoo. So it will in the future have 5 I think they said.
But it was good to watch this one walking about finding the food left out for it.

Werribee Open Range Zoo recently opened an expansion that roughly doubled the “walkaround” part of the zoo - the key feature of the expansion was the movement of elephants from Melbourne Zoo to Werribee (nine elephants, I believe, including three youngsters). The elephants have a lot more room to roam now, and one of the keepers noted that they have lengthened their strides after becoming familiar with their new quarters.

Werribee also has a Savannah section which you cannot walk around - it is limited to vehicular access, but has a lot of animals living intermingled (giraffe, rhinos, antelope, ostrich) - it’s quite large. This section has a family of rhinos spanning 4 generations.

I need to visit Monarto!

I want to get to that one as well as my brother lives quite close so it would make for a great day maybe 2.
I like the work they do as it isn't just for us to go there looking at them but our money help them stay alive
and be around for much longer.

I’m a member of Zoos Victoria, and I visit the zoos regularly. They have breeding programs running for endangered species, and plenty of volunteers. Werribee Zoo is breeding orange bellied parrots and plains wanderers, as well as lions, rhinos, and (sort of) elephants (they were born at Melbourne, but are now at Werribee.

I'm hoping to get out to Monarto in the next couple of weeks. If I can avoid some of the jobs my wife wants me to do! I think most of the elephants there are coming from Taronga Zoo and Perth Zoo. This is the perfect time of year out there. I have never been to Werribee Zoo but I'd like to go there sometime too.
