Birds Birds in Flight Thread - Post Your Shots Here

Burrowing Owl - I've photographed lots of Burrowing Owls, but none have flown this low to the ground at the launch. Image Captured in SW Florida February 15, 2024 Sony a9iii

My longest lens is the 70-200 so not easy especially the small birds

I have just ordered the 2x to go on my 70-200 f2.8 MKII to give me a little more reach. I hear conflicting reports on the 2x but many say the 70-200 f2.8 MKII is one zoom lens it works well on. As the photos are only for fun and not work I thought it is worth a try. The small birds are so hard to capture, im glad my success rate is higher at my weddings :)

Not the greatest light on the day, but some Short Eared Owls having a chase was a nice sight at St Benets.

Just Two Limpkin that wouldn't stop Flying - I always tell photography students to practice photographing birds in flight. Shoot what's flying by you! White birds , brown birds any color birds. Learn to adjust your camera on the fly. Well, as I was waiting this afternoon I thought I'd practice. Images captured in South Florida on March 1, 2024. Camera: Sony Apha 1 + FE 600mm f/2.8 GM.

Hooded Merganser through the Mangroves ! I was way "under lensed" when I ran across these ducks. Thick cloud cover caused very low light conditions. Sony a9iii + FE 300mm f/2.8 + FE 1.4x Extender. 420mm ISO 5000 f/8.0 1/4000 March 4, 2024 Image taken in SW Florida
