Birds Birds in Flight Thread - Post Your Shots Here

Struggle with heat haze, 88 degrees in the desert still, I was a few days early before a cold front. White faced ibis feeding in a field being flooded for agriculture

Great picture, but hope you don't mind me asking why is the iso so high. I've recently started manually putting in iso having used auto, just wondering what people's thoughts are.

No problem! I was about 8 feet away from the eagle - so very close. It was also a cloudy day which is needed for these birds as they are active midday and the light is too harsh on clear days.

They cruise really fast actually at such close distances so their angular speed through the viewfinder is really fast. You need a minimum of 1/1600s to get sharp shots and even that isn't usually enough and I prefer being at 1/2500 - 1/3200s to ensure I don't miss any action. Hope this helps!

Thanks for replying, yes it's always interesting to see and learn other photographers thoughts and settings. I know we all have our own and certainly we're learning all the time. Eight feet away that's amazing nature is so rewarding.
