Dear Experts,
The following question is related to ILCE-7RMV although it may be applicable to other Sony Models also.
1. There is a Custom Button that you can assign to "Tracking On" feature.
2. There is also an option to enable "Touch Tracking" in the [Touch Operation] → [Touch Func. in Shooting] option.

Can someone explain the following?
1. What is the purpose of the 1) option?
2. What is the difference between 1) and 2)

Well, just by reading your post:

#1 is so you can activate tracking without going into the menu or Function button.
#2 is for the touchscreen. You can use your finger to choose which subject you want it to track.

This information is available right on this website. Link to the A7R V online help guide, which is searchable.

Thank you for your response.
Bottom line:
Both options allow the user to track the subject selected by different procedures

New to any other Sony camera, the a7Rv will now allow you to use an assigned custom button to turn tracking on during video. Previously, you could only turn on tracking (in video mode) by using the touch screen, which is very difficult to do if your eye in in the viewfinder. The menu selection to do this is only available by assigning a custom key. Still frame shooting is the same, but not new with the a7Rv.

This feature has also migrated to the a6700, a7Cii and a7CR

Hello, I am looking for this precise feature in the A7 IV for video but can’t find it. Guess it hasn’t migrated to this model yet. When you say it’s a new feature, is that through a FW update? If so, there is at least hope that it could find its way to the A7 IV. It is something that would really be helpful.
