Some flowers found at the South Coast Botanical Gardens in LA. Will add in more as I get to finishing them.

Bird of Paradise and... Canna Lily?
Yes and I don't know I forgot to photograph the name signs for like 90% of the time I was there. The last two were in the "Rose Garden" area but even to my eye not everything there was a rose.

Great images, I only know the names because they grow well here in the Caribbean.

Thank you! I love macro work and I also love getting up-close and personal with my subjects…
I just found a couple of dandelions but it’ll be almost dark here soon so I might try to photograph them tomorrow. Just looking at yours again though and I can’t really work out how you took it, lighting wise. It looks very even and very high key. Not that I want to copy your exceptional shot but just use it as inspiration.

Thank you! Trying to recall how I did that one.....been a while now! The flower itself was a sort of creamy-white, so I went for the high-key look, which was shot under natural light, as most of my images are. It would have been either out on my deck or in the master bedroom, where I have good light coming in through a pair of windows. I love to focus in very closely on flowers' innards and these caught my eye because of their color, almost golden. In editing, I used Topaz Photo AI to upscale the image 2x, which since I was using the A7R V with its high resolution, gave me plenty of room to crop in order to showcase just the anthers. Hope this helps!

Just went back to check again and since you mentioned dandelions, I realize now that rather than the image I described above, you're probably wondering about my dandelion "Puff" photo. That one was definitely shot outdoors in its natural setting and when I got ready to edit it, I started thinking how much more interesting it would be if I filled the screen with nothing but the puff parts rather than displaying the image as a whole. Again, Topaz Photo AI with its ability to upscale did just what I needed in order to crop more tightly in just the way I wanted.

Oops, almost forgot to post another floral shot (and, yes, again upscaled and cropped severely):

Here is my Dandelion effort after admiring the version by @Clix Pix above. Thanks for the inspiration! I have decided not to convert it to black and white but having said that, I have desaturated it quite a lot.

Do we have anyone that likes shooting flowers? Favorite lens to use with Sony? I’ve used the lensbaby velvet 85 and the Helios.
Yes, I do. I find that in the right light almost any GM lens will do the job and have shot flowers with the 16-35, 24-70 or 70-200 depending on the setting. I also sue the 90 Macro on occasion.

A little fun with extension tubes and my Sigma 85mm f/1.4. I purchased the tubes (10mm and 16mm) on Amazon and they have the connections to have AF.
