Hi fellow Alpha shooters,

Bought an a6400 and a half dozen or so lenses in 2019 but hardly used them. Now retired and have more time to play with them. Used to be a Nikon shooter and owned a D300, which I sold quickly afterwards, and a D90, with 18-200mm and 35mm lenses. Love them except too bulky. One reason I didn't use my a6400 much is that its menu is hard to get around for me. Ok, I will find the proper place to ask questions. Have a great early Spring day.

The menu structure for the a6000 family didn't change until the a6700, so there should be a few sources online (or YouTube) if you want a reminder of how to modify settings in the menu.
I don't remember needing to modify the settings in the menu very often when I had my A6400, at least not for stills photography (video was a different matter!)

Also, is it "Laohu" as in "Tiger"?

Yes, basic photo taking is OK. For videos I have not figured out the Picture profiles yet. I followed a YouTube video and set up my a6400 by its recommendations. All of a sudden, the videos I took showed a pinkish hue. I didn't have time to adjust again, so all the recordings of my daughter's swimming competition looked like from a wedding event.

In my user name, "Lao" means old. "Hu" is my last name. "Laohu" is the nickname given to me by my classmate friends since I was still in middle school.

I found most things I wanted to play around with accessible from the fn button.

Anything you find that is more obscure, save it to your own customisable menu Straight away. It'll save frustration later.

Sounds like something funky happened to your white balance before recording time, probably baked into your footage now unless you spend time in DaVinci to color correct, that's unfortunate.
