Reptiles I stood too close to the dock's edge...

I was too shaken to attempt a better photo. I slowly backed away after I snapped this photo, after all the dock had no railing or barrier between us :eek:
 
This guy is/was bigger and those plants probably wouldn't have slowed him/her down much if went after anybody walking down the path about 3 feet to the left of frame.

I’m glad we don’t have those here! I remember seeing quite a few of them by the sides of the road when I visited Florida back in 2005. We drove across Alligator Alley and were just hoping we didn’t break down!
 
I knew i had this somewhere. Gators give them a little room and don't ignore them and tou should be fine. Gators are opportunistic eaters.

This path is park of the Bird Rookery Swamp Trails of Corkscrew Swamp. This was one of about 2 dozen Gators along the path. Highly recommend you visit if in the area.
