Any recommendations for an L-bracket or can I use my old one from the A1 and VG-C4? Thanks in advance.

The A1 and A1ii have different bodies so you will need different grips and brackets. Any that work with the A9iii will work with the A1ii.

Holding the two cameras A1 II and A9 III side by side - the bodies are identical except for the layout of the ports on the left (looking from behind the camera) - those have bee quite rearranged.

So if you want to be able to access the ports with the L bracket in place, be aware of that. The microphone and headphone ports haven't moved, but the HDMI has moved.

Apart from the ports, I would expect any L bracket for the A9 III to fit an A1 II, and the A9 III has been out a year, so there should be some choices by now.

Having just purchased both A1 II and VG-C5 grip, it seems none of the usual cage makers (Smallrig, Tilta) offer one for the camera/grip combo, unless I'm missing something?

Nothing available right now. I contacted Kirk and RRS. Both said until they get the demand they need, they will not produce on currently to use with the grip.

Hi from Oregon, USA -

From the RRS Site:
"Really Right Stuff (RRS) offers a unified, modular L-bracket system (BA9III Plate System) that fits both the Sony a9 III and a1 II because their body dimensions and mounting points are nearly identical, with the bracket providing full port access and battery grip compatibility, although port cutouts might need slight adjustment for the a9 III's moved HDMI port, so look for the specific "a9 III & a1 II" designation for guaranteed fit and function. "

Now, we need one for the A1 2 with battery grip!

Hope this helps -
