Anyone considering having a go at photographing next weeks Lunar Eclipse? It's a total eclipse here but it starts before the moon rises. The main portion of the eclipse will be fully visible though. Because the moon will be very low in the sky, I have been doing some reconnaissance over the last few weeks trying to find a high point that looks over to the north east. This hasn't been at all easy but I found a lookout I have never been to before, today. I am planning on doing a time lapse video with my new Seestar Z50. I tried to have a practice last night but it was way too windy. I might go out and have another go in about an hour. Hopefully the weather will be ok next week but it's looking a bit iffy at the moment.

cant offer any advice but can offer sympathy. Living in the West of England makes star gazing almost impossible because of the permacloud and rain

this morning on the radio they said there was Saharan dust in the air so we would get lovely sunsets

a few months back the Perseid meteor shower was visible in the UK

occasionally the aurora is said to be visible in more southern parts of the UK

- not in Bristol!

I am in a low % area for there to be any color change but I really don't think that is going to matter because the forecast for my area is a high chance of rain all week. Day before and after cool astro event = perfect weather to see astro event, day of astro event = 100% clouds.
