After all the shipping nonsense I must say it was worth the wait. Using it on the A7 IV with the LA-EA5, autofocus works well and much faster than expected. It is limited to the center focus area, but for this lens that's fine. The camera recognizes the lens and reports f/8. I did some shooting in M and some in P. In P mode the camera responds correctly by changing the shutter speed as the light changes. Kind of a big expensive point-n-shoot!

The lens is in perfect condition, it looks like it was just taken out of the box at a dealer. It is small for the genre and light. All of the accessories were included as promised. Both caps, hood, hard case, and filters. For $284 including cost for the slowest shipping in the world, it's a nice addition.

Forgot to say this lens has a focus hold button. I had programmed the A7 IV for that button to switch the camera into APS-C mode when using the 200-600, and I'll be darned if it doesn't do the same thing with this lens.

I have this lens as well and it has work well on the slt 57 A77ii and the A7Riv, I have c4 programmed on my camera to go to aps-c mode and works a treat on all legacy glass and I have c3 to go from raw/jpg to jpg.
Mine does hunt in low light a bit but old school single focus spot and centre spot metering in standard nails the shot everytime .

Which adapter are you using it with on the RIV?

Playing around. These are all handheld MF with the A7R III and Kalimar 1.4 TC

700mm. I don't see much image degradation, if any.

This one is with the same setup but in APS-C mode, so a 1,050mm equivalent FOV.

This one is also in APS-C. It's looking soft, but that bridge you see is 1844' feet from where I was standing according to Google Maps. So, a bit over 1/3 of a mile. Plenty of atmospheric interference at that distance, but for a reflex lens on a TC, this is pretty surprising.

Using the EA5 on the 7 IV gives me full AF and aperture reporting, which of course is always f/8. But the camera knows that and will adjust the shutter speed for proper exposure shooting in A or P.

Using it on the R III I get nothing auto. No focus, no aperture reporting. Again, it's always f/8 so it's a matter of shooting in S or M and spinning the dial yourself. Focus peaking works.

I have not tried the AF on the 7 IV with the Kalimar 1.4, I doubt it will work but it may.
