In my Sony A7R V camera, I utilize the “Sort Recording” feature to simultaneously write different image types in both memory card slots. The first memory slot houses a CFExpress-A memory card, where I store L-Compressed RAW files.

Conversely, the second memory slot contains an SDXC memory card, which enables the simultaneous recording of JPEG Extra Fine images. To ensure optimal performance, I am curious to know the minimum speed required for the SDXC card to maintain the same writing speed, even during rapid bursts? - Thank you in advance.

On my A7RV I have a CFExpress card in each slot but previous to getting my second CFExpress card I was using a V90 card. I think the faster the cards, the better in this camera.

I use Kingston Canvas React Plus 256Gb V90 cards because they are fast. But I do not mix in my cameras. CFExpress for the a1 and a7Rv, SD for the aR3.

You own the a7RV, why scrimp on the 1 memory card?

I’ve made up my mind and purchased four CFExpress memory cards. Now, I can utilize them in both card slots.

Yes, I believe, too, that it’s definitely more convenient to use different memory cards in the cameras they’re specifically designed for. I just purchased four CFExpress cards for my A7Rv and decided to use them in both card slots.

I have an A6700, too, that I use for travel, casual photography, and video, and I’ve now switched my Lexar V90 SDXC cards exclusively for that camera. Ironically, I now have even more memory cards that I need for…

Just another question, do you label the memory cards in any way? I haven’t marked them; I simply turn the used memory cards face down in the storage box. After transferring the images to the computer, I format the memory card in the camera and turn it face up again in the box.
