Sony A1 Sony A1 battery discharges when switched off

Hi all, could anyone help please? Why is it when I leave my battery in my A1 does it discharge in a couple of days. I have left it switched on in the past but the last couple of times I haven't definitely switched the camera off? The battery doesn't discharge when out of the camera. I bought a new battery and this discharged so that got sent back to WEX for a replacement. The firmware version is 3.0. Airplane mode is on but as the batteries die when the camera is off that shouldn't make a difference. TIA.

Odd. If it’s switched off it really shouldn’t be draining, especially not that fast. I’ve never had an issues when leaving mine even for weeks, although it may loose a few percent but nothing that I’ve noticed. Is it the same with all of your batteries? I’d try a reset.

Make sure you "Cnct while power off" is off and the WiFi is turned off.

It seems to be with all batteries, I got a new one from WEX and that discharged within a few days to absolutely nothing. I sent it back and got a new battery but that still discharges. I tend to leave the batteries out of the camera when not in use now. They don't discharge at all when they are not in the camera. I wondered if my charger was delivering a quick charge or similar. It takes between two and three hours to fully charge a dead battery.

Make sure you "Cnct while power off" is off and the WiFi is turned off.

The wifi is off and on Airplane mode not to sure what the Cnct means though?? ;-)

I have read a few reports of this happening, but it is often due to wifi and bluetooth being connected, but as yours isn't, and you have tried an alternative battery, I would be looking at there being an in camera issue, like it's not turning off or is shorting out the battery contact somehow.
Maybe get a battery and clean the contacts with alcohol like nail varnish remover and put it in and out of the camera a few times.

In the Network settings menu submenu 1 there is the setting of "Cnct while power OFF". That setting will allow you to control the camera while the it is OFF.

As the camera is Airplane mode that function is greyed out. I turned on BT and then I got the dreaded System Error message so I have turned Airplane Mode back on and I may set camera to reset and reinstall the Firmware.

My last suggestion: is it with all lenses? There was a third party lens (I do not remember which lens, or even the brand), that would do this because it left the OSS in the lens active with the camera off. The annoying answer with that sense was to turn the camera off, then unlock the lens, twist it a bit to disengage the contacts, then tighten it and lock it again, and it would stop the drain.

Might also be worth trying it with no lens mounted.

If you have tried a couple of lenses, and it happens with both, it's time to take it in for repair - clearly not the batteries or lenses, so it's the body. If my car was draining the battery when off, I'd take it to an auto-electrics place...
