According to Petapixel (haven’t seen it elsewhere yet) Sony has released a couple of V4 CFexpressA cards. They have the usual CFeA speeds, but they are rated at 400 rather than 200 on VPG (most of the v4 cards on the market today are 200). Someone pointed out that that suggests they may be intended for a vidro camera which needs speeds over 200. That may mean a new camera coming that shoots super-fast (8k / 120?).

Unsurprisingly, the new cards are expensive, especially in the US - I hope the rest of us get a better price!

Oh, and Sony also announced a new reader for the cards - not a surprise :)

Should we be expecting something like a super-fast FX3 mark II? Or is there a new Burano coming with ultra-high specs (and price?)

I very much doubt this is for the A7V :) - but maybe an A7RVI with 20fps of 80Mpixel? (No, I don’t think so!)

No UK pricing yet but it looks like they will be $585 for the 960 GB and $949 for the 1920 GB version in the US. I'm surprised that Sony is not reducing prices with so much competition in the Type A space now. If I was buying a new card today Sony would not be my first, second, third, forth or even fifth choice.

You have to wonder if Sony is pricing in further tariff craziness, and possibly a significant drop in the value of the US$.

It will be interesting to see what the prices will be in Europe and elsewhere. Maybe the days of the US getting the cheapest camera pricing are ending?
