I ordered one to use with one of my a1's which I mostly use for landscape or macro stuff.
I wanted to use the camera in portrait as well as landscape mode on my tripod.
Anyway, I'd read that this item will fit.
It does.
I haven't been out with it yet but have fitted it to the camera, tried it on the tripod and it will certainly suffice for my needs.
Cost was £72 on Amazon UK.
Just in case anyone is looking for such an item.

To follow up with this thread, I have just ordered another of these for my other a1 with a battery grip.
I can't fault it, or certainly not the one I already have so far.
It also has a QD port at the base, which I have tested with QD swivels and fitment is perfect, strength seems equally as good.
I don't really do much dangling a camera on a strap stuff, it's usually on the tripod or in my hands, depending on the situation.
But I have bought a rifle sling with two QD connectors, as well as a couple of other similar connectors.
I will double up on security by adding two additional straps to the sling and employing Peak Design style connectors which will attach to the camera and the lens on a slightly looser fitment but to add to peace of mind.
I will machine sew these two additional straps to the sling.
The sling and connectors are only really for occasional use, on boats, cliff walks etc.
