Food What are you drinking? (2023)

Discovered an English single malt last night, it’s from Yorkshire and very easy drinking.

Comfort foods. It’s a blended scotch whisky on sale downstairs because they’re about to adjust the shelving. A little spritely for my taste, if I can describe it that way. She might calm down in the second round.

We get a few interesting drops at the local bottlo. A nice single malt out of Wales. Pendragon or something. I’ll see if I can get another bottle next time I’m in there.

If an adversary demands parlay you can do them no harm until the parlay is complete

I still regret not making a side trip to Talisker distillery when I was in Scotland last year. I literally saw the sign pointing the way when I got to Skye, but not enough time.

Are they Euro's on the table? Is Parley as peaty as regular Talisker?
There’s euros and Thai baht, as well as a few Malaysian ringett and some polish Zloty. 😂

tips from the hookers?

I can only ever do a few shots of the Smokey styles before I change to something else. Stilll plenty left for tomorrow!

You might want to grab this when you get back Gaz. It's $140 and I don't understand that price! It's one of the best whiskies I've ever had, on par with Overeem and Nant... 🏆

Definitely up there with best bottle ever as well. It weighs a tonne!

Enjoyed a bit of this with my dad on his birthday this weekend.

None at Dans, well, not in the one below my apartment. Where’d you find it?

I got one from Caringbah Dan Murphy's, and another two from the one at Kirrawee.

Looks like Alexandria has it. Should just get it flown over by helicopter. ✅

Only 11%, but I feel like there might be a hangover in the morning...

Merry Christmas to me. Chestnut Farms small batch Bourbon, store special edition, Martell Blue Swift, a Spirit Drink made of Cognac VSOP finished in Bourbon Barrels, and Calumet Farms 15-year/8-year bourbon blend. Cellphone shot.

Quick version of The Rusty Nail. I need a slice of lemon peel and a single large square ice. Too cold and icy to go out for those items. Perfect for a cold winter night!

Hey Chris, I finally came up with a good name for your cocktail. Call it:

"Keep that crap away from my Bourbon."

Hope this helps...

Although rum is versatile, it is this kind of experimentation that gives rum a bad name. Unfortunately, people think rum itself is sweet. As soon as I am done with Dry January, I am going to start posting some less sweet cocktails, or just some samples on the rocks.

Almost my last night before the ferry home. The scallops were still pulsating in their shells before sautéing in butter. The mussels were sublime and despite common wisdom, a lightly chilled Brouilly takes some beating.

I did say I wouldn't waste my time shucking scallops again, but one taste changed me back again.
