Contemplative goose.

I loved the image of this goose sitting on the park bench gazing at the pond and looking as though he is deep in thought. Which of the three crops do you prefer? I like the first as it gives the whole picture and puts the goose into perspective, but I also rather like the last crop as it is quite tight on the goose and you can clearly see his eye. Perhaps the middle one is a good compromise - any thoughts or suggestions?

I like the last one best - it more sums up the story you are telling, the first, while wider doesn't focus enough on the goose (all imho).

Yes, I agree, but the first one also conveys the story of 'Billy no mates'. So I'm still torn between the two.

This is an Island Scrub Jay. This bird can only be found on the Channel Islands off the coast of California. This bird is one of the very few animals that is larger than the mainland version as most isolated animals experience island dwarfism.

One of yesterday's two Cormorants returned to the lake today and I watched him fishing for a while -- unfortunately if he caught something I didn't see or manage to capture it! In the meantime, though, I did get him doing the typical Cormorant "displaying," a way of cleaning/drying his wings.
