I received a Sony Vario-Tessar T* FE 16-35mm f/4 from KEH this afternoon so I headed to a park downtown to try it out. I also grabbed my Sigma 28-70mm in case I wanted to get something besides wide angle shots. Soon after getting to the park I saw a hawk flying by and landing in a tree near me. I switched to the Sigma and was able to get close enough to get some shots. He took off from the tree and landed in some high grass near me. As I watched he stuck his head into the grass and came up with a skink. I was able to get within 10 feet or so from him so I was able to get some good shots despite not having something like my 100-400. Here are some shots. Can anyone tell me what type of hawk this is?
