I bought a A6700 18-135 a few months ago and haven't really got stuck into it. But on a bird watching trip it was painfully obvious that the targets were either too small and or too far away.
So I've just got the Sony 200-600 lens for a more exotic trip - with animals as well, but fear I've overcorrected the other way. Especially as I now find I could have reasonably hired one. Oh well.
Otherwise, I'm delving into an offline A6700 manual and trying to set up some useful defaults.
And get a UV filter or 2 - Gobe optical glass seem to get positive reviews??

I don't have experience with the 6700, but I found the viewfinder on the 6600 and the A7CR too small for accurately focusing on a birds eye.

The 200 - 600 is perfect for bird photography though. I've put loads of examples on here.

I haven't used a uv filter since the eighties.
