Right now it's a pretty wild rumor. The 24-240 desperately needs updating and this seems the perfect way to do that. I love my 24-105/4 but would dump it in a heartbeat if this lens comes to pass.

On the other hand, the 70-200 is a GM II and is an extraordinary lens if not a bit pricey. Ridiculously light too. I doubt this new lens will be a GM, most likely a G. That's ok by me though.

Can see them having a mini A9iii or A1 so close to the release of the A9iii. That would just take the wind out of the A9iii. I would expect Sony to update the 100-400GM before the 200-600G since there is 2yrs age difference, I wouldn't say no to an updated 200-600.

My guess is that it will be something related to a drone.

I would love an updated 200-600. Would LOVE a Sony lens like the Canon 200-400 f4 w built in TC.

He thinks ANYTHING that generates clicks qualifies as an 'exciting teaser', including Meike.

Maybe get it earlier than expected? Possibly some others as well? One source just told me that the Sony A1 firmware update will be released o February 10. I wasn’t able to double check this via trusted sources but to me it’s sounds likely to be true. I don’t know if also the Sony A7sIII will...

The 24-50 is not for me but if the 16-25 f2.8 is sharp with no CA and a lot lighter than my 16-35GM MKI I could be tempted. My 16-35 is really only used at 16-20mm . A 15-24 would have been better

That didn't go the way I expected - I read the start and expected "The 24-50 is not for me - I'm only asking for a friend"...

The EXCITING teaser? Maybe a silhouette of a new and thrilling flash unit that isn't powered by AA batteries? Ooh, especially if it could take FZ100 batteries (two of them?).

What I'd like (and it won't happen) is the announcement of a firmware upgrade that would let an A9 III handle CFexpress type A version 4 cards (twice as fast as the existing ones).
