Hello everyone!

I'm a semi-pro wildlife photographer, with an absolute obsession with whales and other marine mammals.

In my regular job I make science communication films, so when I wanted to get more into photography wanted a mirrorless system as it best replicated the video cameras I was used to.

I have an A7R3 with a 100-400mm and 24-70mm lens.

I'm not all that interested in landscape photography on the whole, but love long-exposure shots.

I took this one on a recent trip to loch ness.

All the best

I went to KL for the weekend and I’m home again.

I rushed home to join a special Sony camera sponsored photography tour that cost $100 a seat, limit of 8 participants… then when I showed up, we got on a $60 commercial Whale watching tour with about 60 others, so space was very limited. The gen y skipper was too lazy to shift his bottom 6m to the opposite console on the boat so that passengers on the port side could see a thing or two.

I should have stayed in KL.

Here’s my photo of a newborn whale breaching…. Oh, and the skipper getting a great view of it.

Way to resurrect a dead thread, Gaz. Now we have a whale thread with three images, and no whales.

Here, let me fix that. This wasn't made on a Sony, it was made on a 6MP Kodak Easy Share Z612. But hey, at least it's a whale.

Most amazing trip ever. Hundreds and hundreds of dolphins, sea lions, and about 30 Humpback whales all feeding on a huge bait ball. California requires a state biologist on each trip to make sure the whales aren't harassed and the captains follow the rules. Even she was amazed and said "Who needs National Geographic?"

I'd post more shots, but not Sony, so...

I guess a day on the Harbour is never a total waste of time.

Hey! You got one!
