Well, here we've got one sitting on the chosen spot while the other departs. These two had both been sitting on the chain but one of them (the guy still sitting on the chain) was rather aggressive and kept nudging and moving closer and closer to the other bird to the point where the one being harassed finally decided to just go ahead and leave..... The whole interaction between these two was fascinating to watch, and this was the conclusion:

Nice Gary. Bird flu has only really affected the sea birds, not our smaller species. More to do with the weather I think.

Nice Gary. Bird flu has only really affected the sea birds, not our smaller species. More to do with the weather I think.
Thanks Kev well maybe it the weather but numbers are very low with small birds compared to last year

...so, we thought for a while that it could also be a warbling white-eye, but somehow the legs or the coloring looks off.

Either way, these two were making a racket as we sought out purple herons - well, actually I suppose it was the one on the left making a racket, as it quite obviously wanted in on the tucker and began 'dipping the bucket' as its friend/brother feverishly chomped down the lion's share of this meal deal
