I just noticed that my file names start back at C0001 after i reformat my SD card which is causing me issues now as i download those new files to my mac since those file numbers already exist. I've done some research and confirmed my File number settings in menu 5 page 6/7 is set to Series. The good old Google has told me this is a known bug and is not being fixed (goes back to 2017) but i find that hard to believe. Does anybody have this same issue and if so what is the work around to fix it?

That's odd. Mine resets at 10000 (or 9999), even after formatting, which you have to do of course. Which camera is this on?

a6400. what's worse is every SD card i put in will start at 0001 as well

Descriptions of menu items

Series:
Assigns file numbers of photos/MP4 movies in sequence. The file number becomes larger each time you record a photo/MP4 movie.
Even if the memory card is replaced with another one, the file number is assigned in sequence.
Reset:Assigns file numbers in sequence, following the largest file number existing on the recording medium. When the memory card is replaced with another one, the file number is assigned for each memory card.
