Phase detection A7IV

Anybody having an opinion why phase detection is set to of by default from factory on a new A7IV?

It's not. It's always on. This is the same the A9 Phase Detect Area. All that does is 'display' the PD area, it doesn't turn them on or off.

The problem is too many cameras! I do the same thing all the time.
