Birds Birds Non-BIF Thread - Post Your Shots Here

Clearly an Aussie bird, he's upside down! What is he? I like the yellow around the eye.
It’s a Noisy Minor. They’re quite noisy. We are quite relaxed about naming things. :)

This heron is back for breakfast again.

I’ve been hearing a bird’s magnificent song for four days but could not see it. Wrong lens and no idea, I spotted it today whistling at me from a tree above my banana lounge. When I got back to my room, I have downloaded 16 images of a tree. I could see no bird. Here, apparently, the photographers wear brightly coloured swimwear and the birds wear camo.

Scouring them all with magnification set to 250 I got enough from two frames to identify the “Yellow-Vented Bulbul”. Common as heck here in Bali and irritating me no end now, unless I get it sharp tomorrow.

Well not every bird can be a Musician Wren (which I failed to get a photo of). Highly recommend listening to the call of this bird.

After one of the rainiest winters in Central California I experienced, the echium plant in our garden thrived like nuts and attracted not only multiply types of insect but also this fellow. A Rufous Hummingbird, which rarely shows up in our area.

When I looked out the window this morning I saw a female Rose-Breasted Grosbeak so I spent some time watching, hoping to see a male. I haven't seen either a male or female for almost three years. The female returned a few times but I did not see a male.

Unfortunately the fight was resolved, when I had a better point of view.
The red tailed hawk got a rabbit in our garden but was not able to enjoy his meal since a couple of scrub jays attacked him like dive bombers.

I love it, when a bird is fully aware of the photograph and gives them the perfect look. Like those models on the red carpet. (As seen with the bird with the red forehead and red throat) Great picture.

A few days ago I saw a female Rose-Breasted Grosbeak at my feeder. They are only in our area a few days each year as they migrate north and the last time I saw one was three years ago. I kept watching for a male and today I saw one fly away as I opened the front door. Fortunately, he returned and I was able to get some photos. Here are shots of the female and then the male.

I've seen exactly one male in my yard. Beautiful little birds. Nice shots.

This is only the second time I have seen one, the first being three years ago. It's the first time I was able to get good photos. Last time he flew off pretty much as soon as I got this shot.

While out twitching a rare visiting Hoopoe today, we walked around a corner and spotted this stunning chap just chilling on the cliff barrier rope. Perfect light, perfect moment. Eurasion Sparrowhawk.
