Birds Birds Non-BIF Thread - Post Your Shots Here

Nice surprise today. I went to collect the mail and saw three yellow-tailed black cockatoo sitting in a tree in my street. I raced home, picked up the camera, drove the car back and got 400 or so shots off before they flew away.

The male….

The winter in the California Sierras finally starts to easy up. My bird feeder appeared under the melting snow and I placed the first suet in it and they came.

A female Hooded Merganser. This lady was swimming towards me with her eyes closed which is probably the reason she got so close.

The Sierra mountain range in California got a lot of snow this winter. Numbers in feet and meters are impressive but this two pictures give you an idea, too.
The first pictures shows a Canada Goose chick in April 2021. The second one is at the same spot in April 2023 but the mother/father is standing on 1.5 meters (5 feet) of snow.

American Goldfinch

ST, what's going on with his beak?
Hi, Ed,
Thanks for asking.
It's like a milk mustache, just debris from the buds it's munching on. I wouldn't normally post this picture, but it sort of shows what's going on.
