Ugly duckling action shots, as promised! The lady walking past was certainly entertained by this cygnet.

Southern Ground Hornbill. They can and occasionally do fly, but spend most of their time on the ground. This one was probably bearing gifts for his lady as part of the courting ritual

Not posted for a while but thought I'd upload a couple of photos from last week. The first is one I've been trying to get for a while - a Cetti's warbler at RSPB Radipole. You can hear them all over the reed beds and see them very occasionally, fleetingly, but trying to get them tosit still for a second to pose is almost impossible. However, this one popped up in a shrub about 3m away and sang me a little song whilst I managed at least a couple of shots. He then flew over my shoulder into the base of another shrub and when I looked up there was a female bearded tit/reedling - second photo.
The last two are from our garden. We grew a sunflower this year and left it to see if anything fancied the seeds. Just happened to be looking out of the window a couple of days ago and spotted a Marsh Tit helping himself + he stayed around long enough for me to run outside with the camera.

Excellent David. I have yet to get a good Cettis shot, the single most irritating birds on the planet :)

The Hooded Mergansers are back on our little lake! I spotted a pair of them this morning, grabbed the camera and rushed out to the deck for a few shots. One of them waved hello.....
