Hi all,

Newbie here 👋

So I've been using the A7 iii for a few years with the internal intervalometer with no issues. Recently I started using the Sidande external remote. For the life of me, I cannot get it to work in Single shooting mode. It works only if I set the shooting mode to self timer. I can work around it by accounting for the extra 2s in the interval but of course this is not ideal.

Any help is appreciated 🥲

Hi Matt,

Just a thought, try setting the camera to manual focus. It may be that you have the camera set to only release the shutter when it has confirmed focus. If so it's possible that the release signal for the remote is firing but the focus system is preventing shutter release for single shot. Using the 2 sec delay may be allowing the camera time to find focus and allowing release.

I can't be sure that is your issue but it is worth eliminating this as a starting point.

Regards,

Angus.

Hi Angus,

Thanks for your suggestion but I tried that as well, sorry forgot to mention

I'm using the external intervalometer for deep space astro. My setup is using the Sigma MC-11 adaptor with the Sigma 150-600 on manual focus. Mechanical shutter, LENR off, IBIS off, Bulb. Tried both a wired connection to the camera as well as the wireless remote. Camera firmware updated to the latest.

This is not so much of an issue for astro timelapse and/or stacking but makes it almost impossible to shoot time sensitive stuff like ISS moon transits. It also bothers me that I cannot setup my gear exactly as I want 😅

Regards,

Matt

Hi Matt,

What is the model of remote? I had a look for that make and the only versions I can find only listed as Canon or Nikon compatible.

Cheers,
